ARTIST STATEMENT
Nancy’s art is a means of self expression and it is always
evolving and taking a new direction. Her paintings in
watermedia of acrylic, gouache or watercolor are
attractive to her because of the pigment flow and the
bright colors possible. She tends to use intuitive colors
and is comfortable with representational and non-
objective subjects. There may be found some pieces of
collage from a found paper or a specially designed and
painted one. She is always a little surprised when a
painting turns out reasonably well as each new project is
like the first day of a journey; however, on this journey
you never arrive after all the detours of endless and vast
amounts of information on new methods and techniques.
The journey is the reward with each new friend and each
new travel destination. Nancy says, “I don’t strive for a
photographic reproduction of an image as I feel like a
camera can do a better job. Art has an emotional
dimension and I’d like to leave something for the viewer’s
imagination.” Nancy’s vibrant and colorful paintings
capture a moment in time during her life experiences at
home in Texas or in travel. She enjoys imaginative
figurative work while letting the viewer come to their own
conclusions.
